Nyght blinked as Ghost messed with the controls of the car's internal workings. She sighed, leaning her seat back and settling against it and sighed. She stared at the ceiling of the car as they drove, and shrugged to herself and sighed. Ghost was getting pretty personal now with his questions, but Nyght supposed it did not really matter if she answered the question or not. After all, it did not really matter what he thought about her after all. He did not know who she really was after all.
"Well, if you really want to know....it is family issues. I was born to my mother and father, but mom eventually forced Dad to leave with myself after she found out I was a witch and dad was encouraging my magical abilities. So, Dad took me away to his house where he taught me and helped me hone my magical abilities. He was, however, always secretive and and I thought that there was something wrong. So I eventually broke in to his library and found a book that he was always using. Inside of that book, I found what my father was really wanting and why he was encouraging. He was trying to encourage my magical ability because he was going to eventually going to sacrifice me to resurrect an extremely powerful ancestor of mine. So...I ran away from home before he could do something extremely horrible. Since then...well...I've been living upon my own and trying to take care of myself."

Well, this girl certainly had an interesting life. She was kicked away from her mother, lied to by her father, and ran away with no other place to call her home. If Marcus was the type of guy that showed sympathy, he would have cried for her. But he wasn't that type of guy. She was dealt the life she's living, and she's dealing with it. If she couldn't deal with it then she had a gun in her hands, so she could end it whenever she wanted. That was Marcus' real thoughts about her past.
"There's no such thing as resurrection," the daemon told her. "You can summon someone, or control a dead vessel like a zombie, but you can't bring back anyone from the dead. Trust me, I know. So, if you did stay, you would've sacrificed your life for nothing."
With the new car, it only took five minutes for Marcus and Night to enter the next city. The daemon thought about checking into a motel first, but really wanted to get this mission over with quickly. So, instead, he made a sharp turn left and drove into the desert. He didn't stop driving until he finally came across their second objective.
"Welcome to the great Pyramid of Giza," Marcus told Night and pointed to a large triangular structure made out of solid rocks. The daemon thought that the site was beautiful, but ruined by some light show the city of Giza was performing for tourists. Marcus read about this performance once, where the history of the pyramids and a great king was displayed like a movie. There were no actors, just a voice and pictures. It was supposed to be fun and informational, but Marcus found it incredibly ugly.
"We're going to sneak into the back, where no one is watching, then we're going to look for a beetle. Try not to make a lot of noise."
Being the impatient one, Marcus left the car first. His mind raced with ideas of how this plan could go wrong; there could be some police officers patrolling the yards, or the oversized puppy could screw him over and steal the beetle for itself. Marcus also thought about the possibilities of not finding a single beetle within these accursed tombs, which would suck a lot more than the other possibilities in Marcus' opinion.
"Stay next to me," Marcus told Nyghtingale. "And if you find a beetle, shock it will ya? A dead beetle might be better than a live one, and at least you'll be useful." The daemon gave Night a grin before he tossed her a flashlight. He also had a flashlight in his hand, and walked with it off until he got closer towards the pyramids.
The car was parked far away, so Marcus and Nyghtingale had to once again walk a long distance. As they made their way closer, the flashing lights on the pyramids became more extreme, and the narrators of the light show's voice boomed even more. "Each side of the base," informed the narrator. "Measuring seven hundred and ten feet! The angle being fifty two degrees, it reaches a height of over four hundred and five feet!"
"Sounds like the Egyptians worked really hard," noted Marcus. "I wonder if that truly got them anywhere."
It would take Marcus and Nyght over 10 minutes to finally reach the pyramids. Once there, they would face their first obstacle, a large wall that guarded the pyramids. The wall was not a problem for Marcus since he could fly, but getting Nyght over was going to be a problem.
It took a while for him to come up with this idea, and another while to accept it as the only idea available. But, when those whiles were over, Marcus offered his idea to Nyght. "Hold my hand," he told her. "I'll lift it up."
Nyght sat quietly as the drove, and when they reached their destination and stopped, she frowned looking at the structure. She knew exactly what it was, and threw a look at Ghost. When he told her, but she decided to just keep her mouth shut and not correct him. She felt it trivial, and unimportant to do so. Either he was being an asshole again, or he was simply trying to be helpful. Either way, she was not in the mood for yet another argument. When he mentioned that they where going to sneak in to the back, she gave a curt nod of her head, and exited the third stolen vehicle of the day. She wondered how many more they would have to steal before this adventure was over.
She moved with Ghost, ignoring his silly comment about her being useful. She felt she had been exceedingly useful so far, but that was her own opinion. She she simply nodded and left out a small acknowledging grunt to let him know she had heard him. As they approached the loud, brightly lit pyramid she rolled her eyes at the display and sighed. People just do the worst stuff to make money, she thought. When Marcus asked his rhetorical question, she actually answered it.
"Sure it got them somewhere...inside a giant catacomb."
Her answer was snippy, but not directed at him. It was towards the seemingly futile attempt to build the largest structure to house a dead body for an after life that may or may not exist. It was a massive waste of man power and time, and Nyght wondered what would have happened and how much further Egypt could have gone if they had not wasted all this time building a catacomb for a supposedly god-man hybrid.

It seemed like Night was too occupied with her own thoughts to listen to Marcus. The daemon had little patience with her, so he decided that the best action, for him, would be to force her over, whether she liked it or not. Marcus walked right behind Night, then attempted to grab ahold of her shirt. If he succeeded, his wings would make a large spread, then a furious flap as it lifted both Night and Marcus into the air. The daemon was not the type to waste time, so as soon as he and her would rise, Marcus would land on the sandy dirt on the other side of the wall. Marcus' fall would be gracious, but Night's would be less than Marcus'.
When the daemon made it to the other side, his flashlight would quickly turn on, searching for a single beetle to satisfy this ritual's needy demands.

Nyght did not even react when she was suddenly picked up. How many times had this happened now while she had been around Marcus? She had lost count already, and the novelty/terror of it had worn off long ago. She just simply hoped her shirt would not rip under the strain of it suddenly holding all her weight. Luckily, the fabric remained intact through the short ride, and when they landed upon the other side of the wall she stumbled only a little before catching her feet. Standing up straight, she straightened her shirt out and nodded.
"Thanks, would have been a bloody hell to climb over. Wonder if anybody would notice if I just like...drained the energy out of all these fancy lights and crap they have playing."
She glanced around, then walked straight inside with out hesitating. She was ready to get on with all of this, and she was not really going to drain the energy. For starters, that was stupid and she figured somebody would probably take note of the sudden quiet and dark and come investigating. They certainly did not want that happening. When Marcus switched his torch one, she had to stifle a snort. Silly Ghost could not see in the darkness. How amusing.

Helix couldn't turn her eyes away from what happened next. She was following these two people, two people who happened to sneak into an old Egyptian pyramid at the same time she was going to. These people didn't seem odd to Helix, until one of them began to fly. When that happened, her interest was peeked.
One of the two were male and had wings that nearly matched the color of the night sky. The other was female, a rather young one that looked nearly European. The girl rarely seemed happy to be in the male's presence, and the male seemed to drag the girl along with whatever he was doing. If she didn't know any better, Helix would guess that they were siblings. But she was smart, and knew when something was more than met the eye.
Helix stayed behind, far away from the group at about 210 meters. Her location was above a building, and the only way she was looking at these two individuals was with her binoculars. As she watched them, she suddenly caught a fluctuation within the air in front of them. A dark figure began to slowly form, with glowing blood red eyes. Helix couldn't tell who this figure was, or what it was, due to the fact that half it's body was covered by a dark trench coat. Although, the things that Helix could see were its eyes and its mouth.
The dark figure first looked at the two individuals, then it said something to the male. "We need to talk," was what Helix read from its lips, then it touched the male. The Mystic could only gape her mouth in awe, as the dark figure's hands were not hands at all, but scaly digits with extremely large claws. A dragon was what she thought it was, but how could it be when dragons were normally solitary creatures? Also, the lips that Helix read were human lips, so how could a human body part suddenly develop a dragon body part? What was going on?
At the moment the dragon/human thing touched the male, he fell asleep. Straight down to the floor he went. Then, the dark figure turned to the girl. "You," Helix guessed what it said to her. "I see a dark future in you... You could be very useful." It then waved it's other scaly finger in front of the girl, then chuckled to itself. "I shall delete the last few moments of this day. Instead of remembering what just happened, you will remember that this man defiled you. You will remember that he did vile things to you, and that you were powerless to stop him. You will also remember that it was all in the name of Varos Talantos.
"I shall look at you now, and I will put you to sleep. Just remember, that your dark future begins now."
Nyght and Ghost where walking together, heading along when suddenly somebody appeared before them both. Nyght instantly raised her hands, summoning energy and electricity to herself from the static electricity of the sand itself around her. After all there was plenty of it to be had. This being who appeared did not attack them however, her first instinct had been that it was the dude who had been following them around this whole time and attacking them with zombies and what not. She did not release the energy, though because she did not know this individual and just because it was not their attacker did not mean they where not dangerous. Whoever and whatever this was looked dangerous from the get go, and she could feel the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end from just being around whatever it was.
Nyght watched with intrigue as the being approached Ghost first. It leaned close and whispered something to Ghost that she could not make out. Having finished speaking to Ghost, the being touched him and Ghost instantly crumpled to the ground. She ran to the male, wondering if he had just been killed but kneeling beside him she instantly noted that he was not dead, but seemed to be in a deep slumber. Having made sure the man was not dead, she slowly stood up and looked at the being standing before them. She narrowed her eyes, staring at whoever this was.
When they began to speak to her, her eyes widened from their narrow gaze to quarters. Whoever this thing was, it thought it knew her and could possibly see her future? She doubt very much about either of those and she scoffed softly. Yet whatever/whoever it was seemed absolutely certain, and for some reason that intrigued Nyght. She slowly released the energy she had built up, gazing at the strange unusual being before her with a mixture of disbelief upon her face and shock. It was talking nonsense, and yet clearly meant every word it was saying.
Nyght tried to interject, to ask questions but the being continued on with out stop, cutting her off and not leaving an opening for her to thrust her queries upon it. She was being left with out any information, or anything to know what in the world was going on and that frustrated her greatly. She did not know who this being was, what they wanted, and what they had done to her partner Ghost. How did they know her, and Ghost, and what did they want? What was the end goal here? She was being left with out so much information it was infuriating to her yet she was given no chance to find out.
When the being finished speaking with her, Nyght tried to open her mouth, but was once again caught off guard by the stranger being's intense stare at her. Being haughty, she stared right back at it instead of looking away. She quickly felt herself becoming tired, her eyelids having an irresistible urge to close themselves. She tried to force them open, to stay awake but she quick succumbed to the slumber and collapsed, passed out upon the ground and her memory of the past being altered.

"Don't look into it's eyes, don't look into it's eyes," Sarah whispered to herself as she watched the interaction between the thing and the girl. That beast was casting hypnotic slumber on her, and it was working perfectly. Sarah wanted her to run, but maybe she was too scared? No matter what the case, Sarah had to do something to stop this.
The mystic quickly went to her sniper rifle and positioned it rightly towards the pyramids. Before the creature could lay one hand on the poor girl, Sarah would kill it. She probably had only one shot, since the beast also seemed to have teleportation. If she missed then it would get away, which would still be a good thing; however, Sarah wasn't the type to let evil-doers escape.
By the time Sarah was ready to shoot that thing dead, it was no longer there. The girl was on the floor and the other male was gone, probably taken with that thing. The mystic was disappointed that she didn't get to murder it, but at least the girl was safe, hopefully. For all Sarah knew, she was probably dead. The mystic needed to check, and that's exactly what she did. She packed up her things, hopped on her motorcycle, and rode to the pyramids. When she arrived, she hopped off her bike with haste and jumped over the fence.
The girl should have still been asleep by then. If she was, Sarah would run to her and cradle her head. First, she would check the girl's pulse, then she would lightly tap the girl's cheek, hoping that she would wake up. "Hey, you still alive? Do you know where you are- or who you are?"
Nyght woke up to something tapping her cheek gently. It felt hard and slightly sharp, like a claw. Thinking she was being attacked, she reached up and swatted at it, weakly applying just a little bit of her electrical powers to whatever was cylindrical and smooth she was grabbing. Still half asleep, and unable to summon enough energy it would not be powerful though, more like a sharp snap like when there was a build up of to much static electricity. Enough to make somebody jump, but nothing more.
She continued to grip whatever she had grabbed as she came around, her eyelids fluttering and she realized she was holding a slender wrist. She mind wrapped around that for a second, and then she realized more then that it was a human wrist. She looked past the wrist on up the arm and to the shoulder before her eyes moved over to settle on the face of the female she was staring at. She blinked slowly, then sat bolt up and shoved her hands out at the female trying to shove her away before realizing that the other was not intending to harm her. It was pretty clear that if she had been, well there had clearly been plenty of time and opportunity when she had been unconscious for somebody to do anything to her.
Nyght suddenly remembered everything...or at least she remembered what had been placed inside her head. She gasped, tears instantly welling in to her eyes and she broke down sobbing. She pulled her knees up to her chest, a chest she clearly remembered being molested and abused, placing her forehead upon her knees and crying heavily as all those memories of her "assault" came rolling upon her along with all the emotions she felt about it at once. She continued crying, her chest heaving and tears running down her cheeks to drip in to the sand where she sat. She sat that way for several minutes, seemingly oblivious to the suddenly appearance of the other female, not hearing anything she said and totally engulf in the memories and emotions tearing through her body that never where real but to her where as real as her last birthday, spent alone locked in her room at home while her father was away doing whatever it was he did during the day.
She slowly stopped, not sure of how much time she had spent there crying, curled up upon herself like that. She knew she seemed a total fool in front of this strange female, but she could not help it. All she knew was that she had been violated, hurt, and abused. Her sadness was quickly disappearing however, and was building in to an uncontrollable hate. She HATED that man, that Ghost or whoever he really was. She had never really believed that to be his name, after all what sort of stupid name was that! It was not, and that just made her anger swell faster that not only had she been assaulted like that, but lied to as well. She finally lifted her forehead form her knees, wiping her eyes and cheeks with the back of her hands. Her eyes where filled with hate and loathing, but that quickly changed when she saw the female before her.
A female who was kind enough to stop and check on her, to see if she was alright and try to wake up her. This woman obviously cared, at least a little bit if not completely. She knew it was not usual for strangers to care completely, and that it was unusual even more for them to go out of their way to help another person who they specifically did not know in a strange place. She was assuming it was a strange place to the other female though, at least judging by her looks and her apparel which was clearly not Egyptian but much more western style. Maybe more European or American, but definitely not Egyptian. She wiped her eyes with one hand again, her other wiping at her nose swiftly before she finally spoke in a bit of a shaky voice.
"T..thank you mademoiselle for stopping to check on me and make sure I am alright. I really appreciate that and know that you did not have to do such a thing."

The girl didn't answer for a while, and Sarah thought that the worse had happened, until her hands moved first. They swatted at Helix, giving her a small jolt that nearly made her yell. Helix would have said a lot of profane words at that moment, mostly because she hated the feeling of static on her skin, but she was too happy to be frustrated and angry. Happy because that small jolt resembled the small spark of life in another human being. When the girl suddenly jumped, Helix released a fresh breath of air. The little girl was still alive, and she wasn't paralyzed either. For that reason, Helix's sense of relief grew.
Unfortunately, Helix's relief was cut short as the girl curled where she sat and started crying, despite Helix's presence. The mystic could only guess that the creature's warning came true, meaning that this girl now felt as though she was violated, even though it wasn't true. Helix thought about telling her the truth, but feared of what other type of shock she would bring upon the girl. This was the girl's reality now, and if she wanted to shatter it, it would have to be a delicate and meticulous procedure.
For now, Helix allowed the girl to get used to this reality. She left the girl to cry, and began looking around the pyramid for anything interesting. Eventually, Helix came across a dead beetle that laid next to the girl. Helix picked the beetle and inspected it. Its head was smashed and its blood was still fresh. The beetle was recently killed, but by the perfectly smashed body parts, Helix assumed that the girl didn't accidentally fall on it. Maybe... Someone else killed it?
"T..thank you mademoiselle." The voice of the previously sobbing girl nearly startled Helix. Tears were still stained on her face, but she seemed to be fine by now. Helix wondered if she accepted her new reality this quick, and if she did, how? It took a strong willed mind and an iron heart to get over being violated that fast. Helix admired her. "I really appreciate that and know that you did not have to do such a thing."
"No problem," Helix said, going back to inspecting the beetle. It's coloring and shape said that it was a Scarab beetle, which wasn't that hard to find here in Egypt. However, she was very surprised to see one at this time of night, since this was a day-flying bug. There were a lot of questions raised by Helix about this one beetle to say that this bug's appearance was just a random occurrence. "Do you know your name, and what you are doing here? You sound too French to be African."
Nyght looked at the female, nodding slowly at her question. The rest of her memories where obviously in place, just those of the past few hours had been erased and altered. Not that she knew that, cause they where memories after all. So she answered the female's questions quickly and easily enough based upon what she "knew".
"Yea, I know who I am. I am Morgan, but I go by the name Nyghtingale cause I hate my given name for personal reason. I came here on ship, which I stowed away upon in France cause my mom slammed the door in my face after I ran away from my dad and home in England cause Dad was trying to do something terrible. I ended up here and interrupted that....bastard I was with from abusing some under age girl. We ended up travel together looking to acquire some stuff so that we could make something called a Sphinx. While doing all that, we had some crazy creature that looked like some sort of jackal dog dude attacking us and chasing us around with zombies."
She took a deep breath having spilled all that out rather rapidly, and she rubbed her arms with her hands. A flash image crossed her mind of HIS hand on her arms, holding her down. She shook her head quickly from side to side to dispel those images, and she quickly pressed her palms against the ground and suddenly threw up. That made her feel better, and she quickly stood up and sighed. She kicked some sand over the regurgitation, not trying to bury it but just kinda cover it up and dry it up. So it hopefully would not stink so bad. Now she felt like she really needed to brush her teeth. Maybe shower...violently....using a wire scrub brush and bleach to cleanse her defiled body.
"Hey, thanks for saving me, but I should probably go find somewhere to clean myself up now. It was nice of somebody to check upon me, just for once. Not very many people do that with a homeless gal trying to find a place in the world. So thanks for you help, I will just get going and find somewhere to hole up for the night, get some food and a bath, and maybe try to find a way outta this town in the morning somehow. Just give up upon this stupid quest, after all it was was sorta doomed to failure from the very start, especially with that piece of trash tagging along like some lost dog, looking for easy prey and pickings."

Well, Helix asked a question and this girl gave her the answer, all of it. Form the very beginning and up until now. Helix wanted to stop her and tell her that she didn't need to tell the strange mystic that much, but the moment the girl threw up should have been a good enough hint.
So, the girl wasn't over the mind games yet... No, how could she be? She was just given the image of the worst thing possible for a girl. She probably needed comfort, or some form of mental help, but Helix was unsure if it was proper enough for a complete stranger to give her all those things. The girl seemed to like Helix's help, and even thanked her twice for checking up on her, so maybe offering some aid was a good thing for this moment?
"Nyghtingale... That's a nice name," Helix said in the softest voice she could. "My name is Sarah, but people call my Helix on account of my mind."
There were foot steps sounding in the distance. Helix made a few calculations inside her head and determined that there were four people heading her way. Most likely, they were officers since this part of the Pyramids were closed at night. They were probably on patrol. If they spotted Helix or this girl right now, things would end badly for both as they would spend the rest of the night in a jail cell. She couldn't let herself get caught, but she also couldn't let this girl get away form her. Before, the girl mentioned a sphinx quest, which Helix happened to be on right now. However, there were still a few things missing from her quest, one of those things being a certain beetle which she just found. If Helix played her cards right... She could use this girl to her advantage.
"Listen, Nyghtingale? We need to get out of here. You and me both. I got a bike and a motel to stay in. The motel has a shower, a... Tooth brush, and a bed. I know this may sound crazy... But come with me. The chances of me hurting you are great, but the chances of me helping you are the same. I'd say about 50/50. It's your choice, but you better choose soon." Helix looked behind her and pointed at the flashlights that illuminated a corner. There were four lights in total, and the shine from the lights told Helix that they were still far away. Helix hated rushing through things sometimes, and would really love to convince the girl that she was trustworthy through talking, but right now was not a great time for talking.
Nyght listened as the female spoke to her, complimenting her on her chosen name instead of her first then offering both her own real name and a name she typically went by. Nyght finally fully smiled, nodding her head. Sarah, but she went by Helix instead. She liked the sound of that. Helix was an interesting name indeed and made this other female sound interesting and intriguing. Suddenly Sarah, no Helix, seemed slightly urgent and started asking Nyght to come with her. Nyght would have been worried about this, but she instantly understood the reason why. There where clearly cops of some kind, either some rent a cop security guards or some damn real police officers apparently heading their way. Nyght could see the lights from their flashlights waving around, and she looked at Helix.
"I doubt you can hurt me...I am angry enough to kill all four of those bobbies where they stand. Yet that is not the right thing to do, so I suppose I will have to trust you. Just let me give us a few more seconds to get away."
She looked at the police officers, and concentrated upon the energy in their flashlights. She bit her bottom lip, still not feeling entirely herself so she decided to be simple instead of flashy or powerful. She pulled a bunch of energy from one flash light, directing it to leave the batteries inside the flashlight suddenly and move the lightbulb inside. This overloaded the bulb in a burst of energy, and the filament burnt out making the light go out. She did this with all four in rapid succession, then sighed and nodded as whoever they where stopped walking and began talking to each other. Sounded like a disagreement, but Nyght did not speak Egyptian or whatever it was they where speaking.
"Alright, lead the way to this wonderful abode of yours." She half joked, though she was half serious as well. Anywhere she could shower and brush the bitter, acrid taste of stomach bile from her teeth was welcome at this point and would be a slice of heaven, or whatever else people believed in that they would go to when they died. Paradise, Shangri-la, Purgutory, Elysium...she did not care.
Knowing your own darkness is the best method of dealing with the darkness of other people. -Carl Jung
What did she mean by few more seconds? Helix raised a questioning brow to the girl, wondering if she was about to do something very dangerous and stupid. She almost protested against girl doing anything, but figured that if anything bad happened, she could always kill the officers and get away with the Nyghtingale. Even still, that was very dangerous and stupid.
Helix looked at the direction of the lights again. Four streams of illumination lighted the ground. Every once in a while, the streams would cross, making the illumination even stronger, but the total number of lights always went back to four...
Until it didn't...
What was this? The lights form the officers, all of them, went out, and the night was once again dark. One going out was an excusable thing, but all of them at once? That definitely was unnatural. Immediately after that, Nyghtingale spoke to Helix as though nothing peculiar had just happened, which was also very unnatural. Did that girl do this? Helix guessed she did, and if the Mystic's guess was right, as they always were, then that would make this little peculiar girl a supernatural. Which, for Helix, would be very... Awesome!
"Right this way," Helix chuckled to Nyghtingale's half joke, then moved to the gate and hopped back over it. If the girl needed help getting on the other side, Helix would help. Once everyone was over, hopefully with little injuries caused, Helix would hop on her Ducati Monster 696 and tell the girl to get a hold onto her. "I hope you don't mind having no helmet. I don't really believe in safety that much. Except for... Well... You know."
After all the words were exchanged, Helix would start her motorcycle and drive.
Post by Nyghtingale on Apr 13, 2016 14:56:16 GMT -5
Nyght nodded, following Helix out of the yard. She was not as graceful as Helix getting over the fence but she managed to scramble over it and drop to the other side quickly enough so she was only a few seconds behind the other female. She watched as Helix climbed on to a motorcycle of some kind and eyed the machine for a few seconds. Nyght had never been upon a motorcycle before, and she wondered how safe it really was. She supposed she was going to have to find out, because this was the way she was going to get out of here.
She slowly climbed on to the back of the motorcycle, trying hard not to throw Helix off balance. She did not want to cause them to crash even before they where actually moving forward. She looked down, trying to find somewhere to place her feet and finally put them on something that looked sturdy and firm. She then wrapped her arms around Helix's stomach, clutching at her tightly and pressing her cheek against the woman's back clenching her eyes shut waiting for the motorcycle to take them...somewhere.
